Visionary of the Year 2023 monthly winners

  • March

    • The Brisbane Golf Club places great importance on ensuring that women and girls have ample opportunity to engage with and be part of the club with the development of women and girls a key focus in the club's strategic plan. Read their story.

  • April

    • PGA Professional Janine Barney of Windaroo Lakes Golf role consists of everything from fostering a partnership with local council, to running on-course sessions, to developing female community instructors, to managing a Facebook group that connects women with each other falls under her role description.   • May

    • Congratulations to Devonport Country Club for their holistic and informed approach towards gender equality at the club including: a balanced board, Inclusive championships and competitions, Australian Golf Foundation Junior Girls Golf Scholarship and a welcoming and supportive pathway for beginners.   • June

    • Congratulations to Red Cliffs Golf Club for listening and acting upon a community need to get into golf. Having already attracted 80 women to the club’s program over the past 12 months, Red Cliffs will now commence programs for the Islander women, as well as MyGolf for their children. Read their story.

  • July

    • Congratulations to the team at Woodlands Golf Club for their whole-of-club and rounded approach to increasing women and girls’ membership from 16% to 26% in thee years. Read their story.

    • Congratulations to the team at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club for their informed and creative approach to increasing women’s participation. Read their story.

    • Congratulations to the team at Northern Golf Club for their ongoing commitment to gender equality.  Read their story.

Launch of the guidelines for the promotion of equal opportunity for women and girls in golf

As a part of the Vision 2025 Strategy, Golf Australia engaged the Australian Human Rights Commission to develop Guidelines for the Promotion of Equal Opportunity for Women and Girls in Golf (AHRC Guidelines). These have been endorsed by the R&A.

Champions of Change

Champions of Change Sport is a major collaborative effort to advance the involvement of women in all aspects of sport.

Golf Australia is proudly involved in this program and through this is working collectively with a specific focus on the following priorities:

  • Advancing more women into leadership positions

  • Developing more inclusive sporting cultures

  • Pay equity for elite players
