Long Drive

At Golf Australia, we believe that all golf is golf and everyone can play the way they want to. And for some, golf is about hitting the ball as far as they can!

Golf Australia conducts a small number of Long Drive events each year in conjunction with the Summer of Golf Tour season. Their purpose is to:

showcase alternate formats to change the perception of the game
provide competition opportunities for Long Drivers in Australia
provide a pathway for Australasian Long Drivers to contest the World Long Drive Final (the events are sanctioned by World Long Drive)

The 2024-25 schedule will be released closer to the summer period, however GA’s first official Australian Long Drive event was held during the 2023 Fortinet Australian PGA Championship, with three subsequent events over the summer of 2023-24. The results are below:

To be eligible for the events, participants must be a member of a golf club to be eligible (international players excepted). Professional golfers and professional long drive players are welcome.

Each event is played over qualifying rounds (in simulators) with the leading 8 players following the qualifying rounds progressing to a match play competition.

Players’ results count towards the GA Long Drive Order of Merit (including a Tour Final) and the World Long Drive Rankings. Tickets to the World Long Drive Final in the USA are also on offer during the season. Players need to be an Australian or New Zealand permanent resident or citizen to be eligible for the Order of Merit and the World Final Tickets.
